Gone To Pot

Late afternoons I often bathe.
I’ll soak in water piping hot.
My essence goes through my see through clothes.
Used up am I; I’ve gone to pot.

It’s tea.
In the afternoons I prefer mine with honey or on ice. Sometimes a little good scotch adds some complimentary smokey flavors to hot or iced tea.

These riddles are fun, and can be trickier than you might at first think. Not that I want to be argumentative, but…
Seeing as how the bag, “clothes”, was specifically referenced in the riddle, it seems to me that the bag itself is not part the “I” referred to. The bag is only a container, not the thing. Thus it is definitely not a tea bag, but the tea leaves that happen to be inside of a tea bag. It is the essence of the tea leaves, not the tea bag, that goes through the clothes.
Maybe it’s telling that so many others consider their clothes as a part of themselves. I am not my clothes. I exist whole, even when naked; and so does tea.
