the part that makes me hesitate is the line “I’m double, I’m single”. Double would be ‘eyes’ – 3 letters written with 4. Doesn’t fit…

it’s definitely ewe, not eye. the can be double or single and come in all shades of gray and black.. eyes come in brown and green too.

It actually isn’t Eye. An eye can’t be double without being called eyes and then the rest of the riddle is wrong. The correct answer is Ewe, pronounced as U. It is a sheep like animal that comes in all those colors, Ewe could be singular or plural. And it’s a Palindrome. It works for the riddle. Eye would work, but the double part makes it wrong.
Correct Answer: Ewe
