		<description>I thought about cards too in the beginning. Cards and deals ( business or negotiation)  were two things that immediately came to me. The tense &quot;is put on a table&quot; should have some significance beyond the obvious and while referring to Cards it&#039;s is not so.

If you refer to cards as in a deck of playing cards then putting on a table has no significance. If you refer to metamorphical cards as an analogy for strategic options , a la &quot; hold cards close to chest&quot; or &quot;lay your cards on the table&quot; - the term &quot;cut&quot; seems misplaced there..

hence my conclusion to it being &quot;deals&quot;. Both terms - putting a deal on the table and cutting a deal are commonplace.

P.S. Quite a few flowers find their way into cooking
