Something Dead

Something dead sits on something alive,
That sits on something dead,
That sits on something alive,
That stands on something dead,
That sits on something alive.

Someone come up with an answer please :). Quite a unique riddle.. Does the “sit” and “stand” have some significance.. I thought it was just dead and alive alternating..there is a “stand” used there once instead of sit..

I would have to guess the head. The hair (dead) sits on the living skin which sits on the bone of the skull (dead) which sits on the brain (alive) which stands on the base of the skull (dead bone) which sits on the muscles at the base of the neck which are alive.

I know its a stretch but its the best I got.

@Britt – I was thinking the same thing, but bone is alive so maybe not.

I think if Robin changed horse shoes to hooves, it would work, since I think hooves are like fingernails and only partly alive.

I think that something can be dead and something be alive at the same time so that it can be both ways or switched
